PAINTING A BIRDHOUSE

So this weekend I was given a challenge. The local women's shelter has a campaign where the community decorates a birdhouse and the birdhouses are auctioned off to raise funds. The newspaper I work for had acquired one and our new office manager put it on my desk and said: "Make it pretty."

So I took it home and pulled out my old acrylic paints and began working. I usually paint digitally so painting on an actual physical surface was a bit daunting. I made more than my fair share of mistakes along the way, pulled out some hair, ground some teeth and was generally miserable to be around this weekend. I had forgotten how physically punishing painting with actual paints can be. Not to mention messy. Between clean-up and hunching over a tiny surface I am a bit sore today.

Nevertheless, I got it done in a day and a half and the results... well, it doesn't suck too badly. Hopefully it will make a little money for a worthy cause.

I've been here and there. I've drawn a lot of pictures. I've written a bit, too. I'm not good at this self-promotion thing. Look, you want to know about me? just visit these websites. Okay?

It doesn't suck at all! That was nice of you do that. I hope they make some money!

That is sweet. I would put that in my yard. With a litte electric charge to discourage those damn crows.

I hope it does as well. The local women's shelter is a cause that we've devoted time and money to.

As for the house itself, crows can stay but they have to leave a damage deposit up front.
