There aren't many Christmas songs that include lyrics like: "You scumbag. You maggot. You cheap, lousy faggot." Yet FAIRYTALE OF NEW YORK by the Pogues and Kirsty McColl, still manages to have a haunting, lyrical quality.
So, given what has been visited on New York (and other areas of the U.S.) this year, I think this bittersweet Christmas song is an appropriate choice.

Haddon Sundblom was most famous for his Santa Claus paintings done for the Coca Cola Company. But he could also do a decent Christmas pin-up when the need arose like this one he painted for Playboy in 1972.
So here it is for all of you who don't care about the impending Mayan Apocalypse (snicker), or the fact that I am going to be blogging for Amazing Stories Magazine, or even that Christmas is coming up.

To celebrate here is a video from Greg Sczebel. He is a Juno Award winning singer/songwriter and he's a local boy. He played two great sold-out shows in town just the other night and I saw him shopping at the mall the next day.
