I'm not a big fan of reality TV (The two terms are complete oxymorons in my opinion). That is why it is so odd that I have found an interest in THE REAL HOUSEWIVES OF VANCOUVER.
My wife and daughter were watching episodes on the computer this weekend and I started watching along with them. What drew me in? Sure I used to live in Vancouver but honestly the Vancouver I lived in was not the same Vancouver in this show. The locations are the same but they are different worlds. So what was it?
I was curious enough to watch one but why did I have to get on board for the rest (there have been four episodes so far)? I couldn't tell you.
All I know is that I am fascinated by these women and their drama and the city in which they live and play, which is so much the same and yet so different from the city in which I used to live.
I guess this is my guilty pleasure.
*On a personal, health-type note: It was just a bad flu. I have been on broad spectrum antibiotics all week and the pills are as big as jelly beans. I have recovered fully except for some vestigial weakness. I managed to go out to dinner Friday and go for two walks this weekend and I am back to work this fine Monday morning.

So the cold that I had last weekend has morphed into something else that seems determined to beat the crap out of me. I had chills, aches and pains and then a fever. My regular doctor, the colossal South African, was unavailable so I went to see my wife's doctor this morning and she sent me for chest X-rays and bloodwork because she suspects I have pneumonia.
My wife, on the other hand, disagrees. She thinks it's viral meningitus.
The Titanic sank exactly 100 years ago this evening and right about now I wish I'd been on it. At least there'd have been drinks and a band playing.
If I survive the night I promise I'll post more pictures.

My friend, Frank Garcia, is the author of what is considered to be the authoritative compendium of science fiction television series. Separated into two volumes, the books are coveted by fans and industry professionals alike.
Volume two, which covers the years 1990 - 2004 is out in trade paperback. It is "...A comprehensive showcase of 58 prime-time science fiction television series produced from 1990-2004. Each program is covered with an in-depth chapter, containing conversations with actors, writers, directors and producers." Honestly, there's stuff in this book that you will not find anywhere else.
From fan favorites like Firefly to obscure series like Mercy Point, this book covers it all. I had a small part in helping put it together and I can tell you it is a fascinating read for any fan of science fiction on television.

Which aptly describes the cold I suffered through this weekend. It hindered my ability to concentrate for long periods so that I didn't want to work on any of my ongoing projects for fear I'd ruin them.
This is the second piece I managed to accomplish this weekend. It's got more than a little bit of a "Frazetta" vibe about it.
The good news is I'm feeling better today so now it's back to work.

Unfortunately I`m not feeling so super. Alas, I am suffering from a dreadful cold. I should have left work yesterday instead of toughing it out because I`m spending my holiday mostly lying down with a chest and a head cold.

Well, anonymous, I do appreciate your tenacity in continuing to leave comments on all my posts, even the really old ones, and while I appreciate the love you show me by pointing me towards various porn sites and places to see naked celebrities, or places where I can buy cheap knock-off watches that look like real Rolexes, your voluminous comments have finally become too much for my in-box.
