DAVID GERROLD'S THE STAR WOLF

David Gerrold's book series THE STAR WOLF is one of my favorite series. Originally conceived as a television series, the deal never materialized, but Gerrold had so much material he wrote them as a series of books.

Now a kickstarter campaign has been launched to turn the books into a television series. Their ultimate goal is to raise $2.2 million in order to produce and entire first season.

I've long been a fan of Gerrold's work. About ten years ago I and fellow fan Frank Garcia sat down and talked with Gerrold about his work, about SF and about the Star Wolf in particular.

This has the potential to be a great series, rivaling the new Battlestar Galactica. Let's get on board and give it a chance! Forget executives and advertising agencies! Let's let the fans decide what we want to see.

You can check out the Kickstarter campaign page here.

I've been here and there. I've drawn a lot of pictures. I've written a bit, too. I'm not good at this self-promotion thing. Look, you want to know about me? just visit these websites. Okay?

SCI FI ON TV!

My friend, Frank Garcia, is the author of what is considered to be the authoritative compendium of science fiction television series. Separated into two volumes, the books are coveted by fans and industry professionals alike.

Volume two, which covers the years 1990 - 2004 is out in trade paperback. It is "...A comprehensive showcase of 58 prime-time science fiction television series produced from 1990-2004. Each program is covered with an in-depth chapter, containing conversations with actors, writers, directors and producers." Honestly, there's stuff in this book that you will not find anywhere else.

From fan favorites like Firefly to obscure series like Mercy Point, this book covers it all. I had a small part in helping put it together and I can tell you it is a fascinating read for any fan of science fiction on television.

Buy the book here!

GEEK OUT FRIDAY: DOCTOR WHO FAN FILMS

My friend Frank Garcia, author of the amazing Science Fiction Television Series: 1959-1989 and Science Fiction Television Series: 1990 - 2004, pointed out a new Doctor Who fan film made by british fans. The film looks almost professional. You can check out their website.

I have dubious feelings about fan films despite having directed a Doctor Who fan film years ago (I'll blog about it one day. The wounds are still too raw.)

This, however, has to be my absolute favourite Doctor Who fan film.
