AM I A ROBOT?
Blogger's new comment verification, the new one, put on all of our blogs without our knowledge, the one designed to figure out who is a robot and who is a real person, is very difficult to make work. It is so difficult and annoying it has me questioning whether I am a real person or whether I actually am a robot.
I can't handle such a metaphysical line of thought when I am blogging, so I am urging all bloggers to do yourselves and your readers (and this sad robot) a favor and turn off your comment word verification.
I'll bet most of you didn't even know you had it on your blog. I didn't know. Try leaving yourself a comment and see whether or not it comes up. Blogger should be a free and easy conversation among like-minded individuals, not a hassle where you have to prove who you are all the time and end up questioning your very existance. That's what dealing with government offices is for.
How do you do it? Well head on over to J. A. Bennet's blog and he will tell you how.
I've been here and there. I've drawn a lot of pictures. I've written a bit, too. I'm not good at this self-promotion thing. Look, you want to know about me? just visit these websites. Okay?

It sometimes takes me a couple of tries to figure out what letter combination the distorted word-verification image is supposed to be depicting.
Ach! Thanks for posting that link...the new interface doesn't allow one to turn off the CAPTCHA, so my workaround was to turn off comment moderation for posts less than 60 days old...but I like comment moderation and didn't want to lose it!
I removed mine a long time ago because someone told me how annoying it was to my commentor. It's such a pain. If I really was a robot I would be rampaging and destroying the city, not commenting on the hell I hope the Olsen twins find themselves in.
I had bigger problems than that yesterday. I went to my dashboard to make a post and it told me that blogger no longer supported IE and I'd have to use Chrome or something else. Geez!
Anyway, this new word verification is so screwed up that you don't even have to type in the right letters! Just use the same amount and be in the ballpark with the letters...
I'm just glad I'm not the only one having problems in this area.
Nope. You're not the only one. :)
I wondered why -- tonight, while out leaving comments -- suddenly everyone had turned on their word verification!! I thought about writing a post, urging people to turn it off, because I can't hardly read the damn things, and if they want me, and other impatient and/or intoxicated people to be able to read 'em and leave comments, they better turn it off! ;)
Thanks for the link.
Good point, Ginger. I hadn't thought about intoxicated bloggers. Perhaps Blogger should have presented it as a sobriety test rather than a test of whether one is a robot.
