JOHN CARTER: 1st OFFICIAL TRAILER

Well, here it is. It looks incredible but, honestly I don’t know what it is, because it is NOT Edgar Rice Burroughs’ A Princess of Mars.

Colour me disappointed.

I've been here and there. I've drawn a lot of pictures. I've written a bit, too. I'm not good at this self-promotion thing. Look, you want to know about me? just visit these websites. Okay?

Wow MD, you're a tough customer. All I know is, all of the key people behind this movie are John Carter fanatics since childhood, especially director Andrew Stanton.

Good attitude, Joe.

Matthew: Yeah, I'm a bit of a grumpy old man when it comes to Edgar Rice Burroughs. I suppose I'm a purist when it comes to the Mars series.

I'll probably lighten up enough to actually go see the movie when it comes out.

this is just an early teaser, there is so much coming on in the real trailer.
I think it will be an amazing film. Andrew Stanton is an amazing director, a real dreamer, a very creative and warm person who gave us so many classic animated films (WALL-E, TOY STORY, A BUG'S LIFE) and I have a complete faith in him, not to mention the stunning cast made mostly of some great thespians (Poly Walker, James Purefoy, Mark Strong, Haden Church, Dafoe, Samantha Morton) and two gorgeous young stars Lynn and Taylor.

Dezmond, you sound like a shill for the Disney Company.

I loved WALL-E and of course, Willem DaFoe, James Purefoy, Polly Walker, Haden Church and Mark Strong are some of my favourite actors. I also like the Peter Gabriel's cover of Arcade Fire's "My Body is a Cage". It's one of my favorite songs, but not really appropriate.

I hope that it does well and makes lots of money (and not just because my daughter owns shares in the company).

I hope that the shots of Utah will be "CGI'd" to look more like Mars and less like... well,... Utah. Taylor Kitsch looks okay as John Carter but Lynn isn't Deja Thoris for me (and not just because she's wearing clothes) and the Tharks don't look impressive enough for me (they look too "Disney").

Maybe it is just early days. Maybe in theaters with the 3D it'll rock... but right now it just doesn't.
