I like the softer outlines. It draws more attention to the masterful job you've done with shading and color selection. The choice of a background that closely resembles the model's skin reminds me a bit of Fritz Willis.
ReplyDeleteErik; I had to look up Fritz Willis. I had seen his work before but never really knew who he was. That background he uses, the parchment of canvas or whatever, that was exactly the colour I was trying to emulate in this piece. I started with the darker brown then realized that the original flesh tone I was using matched it pretty closely, so I tried to push the flesh colour more towards the reds and bump up the highlights.
